Find Liberty To Earn Unlimited Profits On The
Internet
by Bonnie Boots
My average client is a self-employed professional, or at least
someone with specialized training, that wants to take a step onto
the internet to see if they can expand their profit potential.
But sometimes getting them past interest and into action takes a
long, long time.
For more than a year I've been encouraging a self-employed
professional in my area to get on the internet. At long last after
many personal conversations and even a video presentation, he's
finally decided that setting up an email system to communicate to
his vast client list is a good "first step."
I'm always amazed at how slowly some of these folks creep out,
wiggling one cautious toe into the water as if they're testing for
digit-snacking sharks.
I always wonder why they don't just dive in. That's when I have to
remind myself that a scant five years ago, it was my toe doing the
timid wiggling.
Back then I was juggling work as a newspaper columnist along with
writing for several magazines while making radio spots and TV
commercials on the side.
And I could clearly see that when it came to my future income, the
handwriting was already on the wall. It said "Bonnie, you'd better
learn to use the internet now, before print media goes belly up."
So I stuck my toe in and wiggled it around for a year before I took
the plunge and put up my first web site.
I've learned a lot since then, more than I can carry around in a
single brain. I've learned the ins and outs of all sorts of
software, learned new ways of writing and promoting and marketing,
learned new ways of making money--more than I dreamed of as an
ill-paid writer for print!
Most of all, I've learned that anyone with any sort of skills or
specialized knowledge can leverage the internet to reach around the
world and build a nearly unlimited profit potential.
Last week I spoke with a new client who's worked twenty years as a
management consultant. She explained that in those years, she's had
to relocate three times. Three times she's had to leave old clients
behind, settle down in a new city and rebuild her business from
scratch.
Now, thanks to the internet, it doesn't matter where she lives. It
doesn't matter where her clients live. She and her clients meet and
do business in cyberspace.
In virtual space, "relocation" means only that you've moved your
laptop, "starting over" means only that you've rebooted and
"potential client" means the population of Earth.
This month, as the United States of America celebrates its liberty,
I have to think that there should be a similar day designated to the
internet. The internet, as it's developing now, offers us the
ultimate liberty-- liberty from the physical boundaries that once
defined where we could work, whom we could meet and how much we
could earn. Sometime this month, step outside, light up a sparkler
and celebrate that!
